We are looking for an experienced Quantitative Developer, based in Spain or the UK, to join our Data team, working with our Commodity Owners and Data teams to optimise our current petroleum, commodity, and data cleansing models. Using sophisticated statistical techniques, machine learning and other cutting-edge technologies to ensure our data is of the best quality for our clients (who are among the largest in the oil trading market). As a self-starter you will get to design our quant infrastructure, have significant input in how our large data sets are managed, and take ownership.

We are a fully remote company, and we strive for fast deployments to support the rapid growth we are experiencing, and this hire is key to our continued success.

Responsibilities

  • Optimisation of models (Non-Linear Optimization)
  • Data cleansing and building automated ETL pipelines
  • Refactor and design as needed, using design principles. Architecture of new libraries, analytics platforms, and data pipelines
  • Extend codebase for other products
  • Developing new pricing and cleaning algorithms
  • Working closing with Quants and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver robust, reliable and performant solutions.

Required Skills

  • BSc/MSc /PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics or relevant.
  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Pricing analytics background (any asset class, commodities is beneficial).
  • Python, Pandas, NumPy, SciPy and Excel.
  • Unit testing and TDD.
  • Excellent understanding of software development best practices (such as functional and OO paradigms and standard design patterns) and design principles (SOLID).
  • Commercial SQL experience.
  • Experience with AWS is beneficial (EC2, Lambda, S3).
  • Experience with Git, Bitbucket or other source control techniques.
  • Outstanding English communication, both verbal and written, and presentation skills.

Desirable Skills

  • C++ is beneficial.
  • Experience in Petroleum refining or similar is beneficial.
  • Experience managing small teams and project deliveries is beneficial.
  • Understanding of Linear programming, Non-Linear Programming, Mixed Integer Programming, Quadratic Programming and Convex Optimization.
  • Experience with at least one commercial or open-source optimization library or mathematical modelling language. This could include Gurobi, AMPL, GAMS or CPLEX.
