We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer – C# / .NET (Web) to join us at Inspiretec. The successful applicant will join our creative in-house digital agency team. This team focus on solving clients’ problems via beautiful and clever websites and apps that engage, excite and transact online in the process.


As a Lead Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, mentoring and line management for a small team of Software Engineers, at various levels of competency.


Working as part of an agile delivery team, the Lead Software Engineer – C# / .NET (Web) will get to design, develop, test and review high complexity software solutions and services as well as contributing towards the functional and technology roadmap for clients across the group.


As part of your role you will regularly review the performance of your team, monitoring work packages to ensure that work is being completed in accordance with agreed best practices and industry standards. You will lead by example and work with the architects and other members of the leadership team to drive continuous improvement throughout the code and our delivery processes.

Requirements


Key responsibilities:

  • Design, code, test and document new features and system components, using agreed standards and tools. Conduct reviews of requirements and specifications and contribute to code and design reviews.
  • Work with product owners, testers, analysts and architects within an Agile team to deliver application features end-to-end.
  • Undertake analysis and design of new features and contribute to the analysis and design of larger systems.
  • Produce detailed designs including for example: physical data flows, file layouts, common routines and utilities, and application specifications or prototypes.
  • Evaluate potential frameworks and tooling, demonstrating, installing and commissioning selected products.
  • Identify and resolve issues with applications, following agreed procedures.
  • Use application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics, e.g. load testing. Carry out agreed applications maintenance tasks.
  • Contribution to continuous improvement (technical and delivery processes).

Skills sought:

  • Experience in leadership, mentoring and performance management.
  • 5+ years of experience working of C# / .Net.
  • Experience integrating with APIs (WSDL/ XML, REST/JSON).
  • SQL Server.
  • CMS Development (Umbraco, Sitecore) – desirable but training will be provided.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Clear and strong communication of ideas.
  • Willingness and confidence to speak directly with clients.
  • Interests in other fields, whether it’s web design, blogging, VR or travel.
